My name, Lithuanised, is Danielius Pileckis, yet fully at home I am Daniel Piletsky (pronounced P-ee-letsky). Of mixed Russian, Polish, Tatar, Karaite extraction and with certain western affinities (German, French as some attested ones, others possible) - my family tree could symbolically be envisioned as an eagle looking in both directions - east and west - and that home is best which is in the unity of Jesus, who gives the unique opportunity for both Jew and Gentile to be one family while retaining their unique idiosyncracies. Although mostly I know, in different degrees, only languages vernacular in Lithuania - there seems always something more to Language in general, as once Providence tapped me to see in the oeuvre of a miraculous linguist Платон Лукашевич (Platon Lukashevich, 19th century).
I believe there is something running in the undercurrent of my ancestry which has also influenced turning me, quite providentially, to philology, especially classic English literature and related spiritual and cultural explorations, however minute and sparse.
An MA graduate in English Philology Studies at Vilnius University, I have the rare privilege to experience the world of belles lettres as another window through which I can now and then take peeps at existence, by God's grace and mercy. The worlds of writing, theory and criticism are in certain strains of thought viewed as distinct ones, although sharing complex webs of interconnections and mutual passageways - and indeed alternating among different worlds, which are more congenial to myself, has been a great light from above for me to see the truth over illusions of reality; it is a hefty business telling right from wrong and dividing light from darkness - but He who made the heaven and the earth is always ready to help, and it is to Jesus that I am primarily indebted for all guidance and revelations that aided my quest and made it at all possible. Though rather desultory, my studies and linguistic pursuits can be roughly divided into two periods: that of greater exposure to authors temporal and then, to authors spiritual. The reason for this shift lies in my personal experiences (possession and disease) which brought me to a quaking realisation that man will perish for ever without the Lord Jesus Christ - and unless one loves the Lord and comes to know and obey Him, one is tragically put out of blessed eternity into the everlasting chasm of damnation and torment. My latter day message is that of Jesus's desire to live intimately with every single soul on earth - and it takes a pure and devout 'yes' seasoned with proper action in accordance with the Holy Spirit's guidance which brings one out onto that most joyful of pastures, 'where winds caress and birds are quiet in rapture...'
